Rusty Gold is a story that has existed in my squishy brain since I was a child (circa 2015ish), a fantasy world that I would daydream about and draw cute characters who might live there and outlining their crazy lore. This world is ever evolving and, in all honesty, is not created to fit into the framework of what might be considered “conventional storytelling”. This is something that I work on purely because it makes me happy, but if other people can derive joy from engaging with it, that would be awesome. I used to write and draw for this world with dreams of being able to do this sort of work for a living, only to later learn it would require turning my art into more of a product that other people would be willing to pay for. Turning creative expression into content to be “consumed” and eventually discarded. While I’m not opposed to possibly making that sort of content in the future if the opportunity were to arise, I’d only do that sort of work with a completely different story and world. Rusty Gold is something mostly just for me. It is not meant to be high art, profitable, popular, traditionally published, or even good. Consider this world to be a glimpse into my soul, as this is where I go mentally almost every night before I go to bed.
This page is going to be a place for all writing that takes place in this world. I’ve been writing short narratives and worldbuilding ideas for years, but it’s really only in its infancy as a serialized narrative. I’m currently reworking my ideas into a linear narrative and giving my characters the completed arcs they deserve.
I’ll be typing them up and doing some edits (so it’s actually readable >﹏<), and then they will be added here. So if this page looks a little sparse, trust that there is more to come, I’m just slow and a bit disorganized.
Works are organized by recommended reading order (start from the top), but they might be written and uploaded out of order.
While this story started in my head when I was eleven years old, it has grown and matured with me into adulthood. Even back then I was experimenting with darker subject matter, and I consider what I currently write to be for adults. Some works may contain blood, graphic depictions of violence, and other heavy topics. Works including heavy topics will be tagged accordingly. I would advise not reading works that contain topics that you know you aren’t comfortable with. If you're anything like me, you might just ignore any and all content warnings and deal with the consequences later, but this is ill advised. Do as I say, not as I do, and take care of yourself.
Okay enough yapping.
